Image from last years SETAC Europe LCA Symposium, 21–23 October 2024. | A
year ago, we hosted the largest SETAC Europe LCA Symposium to date. It was an
intense, rewarding, and fun experience! In this newsletter, you’ll find updates
about the next edition of the symposium.
With
two months left of 2025, there’s still lots to look forward to: Life Cycle
Talk, a webinar sharing results from the Consistent Standards for LCA project,
upcoming working and expert group meetings. Looking further than that, towards 2026,
there will be a big celebration as the center turns 30 years, 1996-2026. Thirty
years of research, collaboration and knowledge exchange and still going strong and
working from the acceleration of sustainable transition through science-based
life cycle action.
Sincerely, Anna Wikström and Maria Rydberg, Technical Secretariat, Swedish Life Cycle Center. |

Highlights from LCM 2025 in Palermo
LCM 2025 in Palermo brought inspiring discussions, fresh perspectives, and strong contributions from our network. As one of the world’s leading forums for life cycle approaches, this year’s theme “Global to Local” highlighted practical sustainability solutions across industry, policy, and research. Topics ranged from CO₂ traceability and textile circularity to second-life batteries and sustainable aviation, with our partners also chairing sessions on circular plastics and energy decision-making.

Collaboration opportunitiesSwedish Life Cycle Center plays an important role for all its actors within the Center to build networks, competence and influence future development. How the partnership is used is up to the partner. Partners value the direct contact to the network, research and high level discussions. Others are engaged in working groups that go in line with their organization’s agenda. And for some organizations, Swedish Life Cycle Center has been and is a key to their continuous work with life cycle related improvements and capacity building. The Center hosts a dialogue group with nine government agencies in Sweden, engages small and medium-sized companies through a letter of collaboration and enters into collaborative partnerships with other life cycle organizations at a global level. |
